The stars are on fire, and the void is burning black.

Brushfire is a game about fighting an impossibly large war. You play manufactured soldiers bound to the service of AURILENE HOUSE, one of the oldest and most respected noble lines in the galaxy-spanning nation known as the REACH ECLIPTIC. Made to crush an insurrection along the borders of Aurilene territory, you've been plunged into a conflagration that burns too hot to quench and too furiously to flee from.  Your only hope is to find an answer to a stark, singular question: how will you survive the flames?

Brushfire is Forged in the Dark, iterating on the military FitD genre. You'll play two different types of characters: troopers and specialists. While specialists function like the playbooks you might expect in other games, troopers are assembled modularly, choosing their abilities from a list of flash trainings — skill trees focused around certain areas of military expertise. In Brushfire, the majority (and often the totality) of your squad will be composed of troopers: manufactured soldiers fighting a war on someone else's behalf. You're disposable. Good luck.

This game is currently in pre-alpha. It's not even close to complete; this playtest edition is good for running oneshots, so long as you're creative enough to set up a mission premise on your own. As the design develops, more features will be added! For now, though, it's encouraged that you be familiar with the function of Forged in the Dark systems before you play. If you have design feedback, please feel free to send it my way! My contact info is in the pre-alpha document, or you can Tweet about the game under the hashtag #brushfirerpg.
