Midsummer Development Update

hey i finished editing

I'm aware these posts have gotten significantly less polished as time's gone on. But: I did the thing the header says.

crowdfunding: spring 2024 (tentative)

I continue to be working a full-time job, and I want to make sure there's time to ensure I can get everything in place and that Songs hits the most receptive audience it can. I'm not looking for a major release—if I manage to raise even 10% of what Girl by Moonlight managed, I think I'll be golden, and I intend to take a page from Austin Ramsay's book and ditch stretch goals in favor of ensuring that the game goes from funding to physical copy with as few extra steps as possible. That by itself is a long process! Beam Saber and Ascendancy both hit crowdfunding in spring of 2020 and thanks to COVID-induced supply-chain and shipping delays in addition to the usual struggles of working on a project, both projects are only just seeing the first physical proofs of their books. The economy has had time to adjust so it's possible that things might be easier for people starting out now, but I wouldn't count on it. I've got a lot of research and planning to do to make sure this happens as easily and reliably as possible.

That's all for now! Hopefully I'll have more to say in winter.

I was kind of holding off on buying this game to wait for the crowdfunder (also I have too many other unplayed games). But since spring 2024 is still a while off, I decided to buy it already anyway. I hope it helps a bit with the development until you get the big crowdfunding money (which I'm sure you'll get)!
